Wednesday April 12: My Fulbright exit presentation at the US Embassy in Kathmandu

Jenny and I lounged at the DLR for most of the morning. We did some organizing and packing.

Around noon, Dash picked us up and drove us to Kathmandu. We picked up Nisha at the IOM school and then got some delicious momos to go from Momo Magic.

My Fulbright exit presentation was scheduled at the US Embassy for 2 PM. Those wishing to attend had to pre-register by using a QR code. When we arrived at the embassy, there was a long line. I was escorted to the front of the line, through security and into the American Center room. It turns out that room has a maximum occupancy of 60 people, but there were maybe 80 people who had registered for the event. So some students/others were not able to get in. This was disappointing to me. Even so, it warmed my heart to see so many friends in attendance. Many IOM and Kantipur students had taken leave from school to attend. My presentation lasted about an hour. It seemed to be well received.

My student Fulbright friend, Jenna Biedschied was in attendance. After the presentation we gave her a ride to the Fulbright HQ or she needed to transact some business.

Then Jenny and I went to a delicious lunch at the Oriental Kitchen with Dash, Nisha, Anil, and Manisha. Some reason I have no photos of that meal.

Then, Anil drove Jenny, Nisha, Manisha and me to Bhaktapur. We enjoyed seeing the durbar square. This is one of the original kingdom palaces and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Anil drove Jenny and me back to the DLR. It was only 8:00PM, but I was totally exhausted.
