Wednesday March 15

I didn't take many photos today. Maybe I am getting complacent? I did get a pic of the best view in months of the Himalayas -- Spectacular!

I bought 4 muffins at the Himalaya Java Coffee hut this morning and took them to the Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics department.  The muffins were enjoyed. The Himalaya Java place is very much like Starbucks and far out of character for Nepal. Those muffins cost me $7US -- after my 10% hospital employee discount.

After having a cup of Nescafe with the Cons faculty, I went to my hospital apartment and worked at my desk/computer again. I can't identify a single thing I accomplished, but they day evaporated into trivia.

On my return walk to the DLR, I saw this young black cat who meowed at me, but kept her distance.

While I was waiting to pick up my laundry, I saw this construction site. I demonstrates their use of reinforced concrete and bricks. Notice that there are no power tools here -- no excavators, or bobcats or backhoes. This is all dug and carried by hand!

Next, while still awaiting my laundry, I watched this boy flying a paper airplane. Some things are exactly the same in any culture. This reminds me that he doesn't need a fancy Nintendo electronic device to have fun. There is value in simplicity.

Later, Susan arrived back at the lodge. Her flight to the Everest base camp and tour of the sites of Kathmandu was memorable. We had "Chicken Sizzler" dinners at the DLR restaurant. Back at my room, I watched an episode of "Cheers" on my Ipad (I recently started rewatching that series), and soon I was asleep.
