Tuesday, March 14: Alone but not lonely.
In one month, on April 14, I will be landing at DFW airport and sleeping in my own bed. Currently, I am sleeping in a bed at the DLR. My visiting friends are away, so I am alone for 2 days. I took that free time to catch up on some other obligations.
I saw this cute Iris-type flower on my walk to the DLR breakfast.
I sat on the restaurant's balcony and savored my coffee and breakfast. In the distance beyond my food plate, you can see the egg cooker guy. He was preparing two eggs for me – – "both sides." Unfortunately the air pollution has been terrible recently, obscuring views of the Himalayas and even blocking more near mountains.
I saw this dense ivy on the walk back to my DLR room.
My three American friends today took a helicopter from Kathmandu to the Mount Everest base camp. They sent me this image; however, I don't know if this is Mount Everest.
After breakfast, I walked over to my room at the hospital complex and worked at the computer at my desk. I decided to not go to the dental school today. I spent the day alone, but it was a very productive day. I worked pretty much nonstop until after 5 PM. I was able to get my US income taxes completed and submitted. I'm awaiting a small refund.
Sometime after 5:30 I walked back to the DLR. On the way I stopped at an ATM and withdrew some Nepal rupies and I dropped some laundry off at the cleaners. It warms my heart to feel so much a part of this community here. I say that because as I was walking out of the ATM booth, I heard, "Dr. Karl, Dr. Karl." I hear this frequently walking around Dhulikhel --as an anglo, I am quite conspicuous. Today, as it is most typically, it was dental students greeting me. My head was somewhere deep in thought when they greeted me. We had a brief conversation and afterwards I regretted not capturing a selfie with them and not inviting them to join me for a dinner meal.
The sun was setting as I was walking back to the DLR tonight. I captured these images of the sunset. I couldn't pick one image as the very best -- I thought they were all unique. The pollution is making the sunsets spectacular.
Namaste!
