After being away for 11 nights and traveling to Bangladesh and Southern India, today I finally made it back to Dhulikhel, Nepal. I saw the sun rise from my room at the Kumari Inn in Kathmandu.

I enjoyed my typical breakfast there and then Dr. Smriti (and her driver) picked me up before 8:00AM and we were off to Dhulikhel. There, I spent an hour unpacking and reorganizing -- and realized that I forgot to leave my Kumari Inn room key at the establishment's front desk. Argh! Dr. Kafle will return it for me. Then with two loaded sacks of laundry, I headed off on a walk to the cleaners. After depositing the laundry, I climbed three flights of stairs above the laundry to the Bamboo Cafe's rooftop patio. I enjoyed a delicious coffee before continuing my errands.
This was the view of central Dhulikhel from my coffee break seat.
Next, I stopped at the Nabil Bank branch in central Dhulikhel and had a brief conversation with the manager. I inquired about the logistics of closing my Nabil Bank account next month when I return to the US and having my balance transferred to my bank in the US. He assured me that there would be no difficulties in doing so.
One floor below the bank is a small grocery store, where I filled one of my empty laundry bags with groceries: bread, soup, snacks, soap, etc. I filled the other bag with 6 1-liter bottles of water.
I spent the afternoon working in my room -- catching up on "things" after the 11 night absence. Today was a "school day," but I never made it to the school. Dr. Kafle stopped by my apartment for a brief visit in the afternoon. He described that the American dentists from yesterday's digital dentistry presentation had today placed zygoma implants for an "all-on-four" dental rehabilitation case. These were the first zygoma implants ever performed at the Dhulikhel school.
I had a delightful (solar-heated) hot shower in the late afternoon. It was the first hot shower since the fabulous ones I enjoyed at the LeMeridien Resort in Kochi. Today's shower seemed equally satisfying.
I made some instant (powdered) chicken soup for dinner. It is actually the very first time I have used my room's induction hot-plate and the saucepan I purchased months ago at the Bhat Betani store. The soup was surprisingly good.
Tomorrow is a national holiday here: Color Day. It has some Hindu significance, but no one has been able to clearly explain the meaning/purpose of this holiday. The school will be closed tomorrow. I have no special plans -- maybe some pleasure reading?
