Saturday -- Walked up the 1000 steps trail to the golden Buddha and the Hindu temple

After last night's rain, the morning weather was cool and damp -- but nice. Unfortunately, the rain didn't wash away the pollution. There was no Himalayan view this morning.

After breakfast, Susan and I began our trek up the "1000 Steps" trail which climbs a ridge East of Dhulikhel to a Golden Buddha statue and a Hindu temple. Supposedly it was only a 4 mile round-trip walk. We didn't count the steps/stairs. The red arrow shows the golden Buddha statue as viewed from our start at the DLR.

A the ridge-top Hindu temple, I saw this boy up in this tree picking flowers. I have no idea why.

The locals are enamored by Susan's blonde hair and want selfies with her.

After our time at the top, we walked back down.

Walking through the streets you see lots of the local historic buildings' architecture.

This produce shop had some beautiful vegetables. Look how long the beans are! The cauliflowers are huge too.

The oyster mushrooms are big and nice. The radishes are huge and very mild.

The small aubergines looked such a perfect color: eggplant!

There was a soccer match being played at this "pitch."

After the hike we stopped at the TikTok for a beer and lunch.

I rested in the afternoon and then met Susan for dinner. The DLR had several busloads of (I think) Germans and that may have influenced their dinner buffet. I found these relatively bland entrees.

Susan leaves Nepal tomorrow to return to the USA.
