Monday: More busy, busy busy...

Monday morning I had breakfast on the DLR restaurant balcony with Ross, Ryan and Susan. Ross went back to bed while Susan, Ryan and I walked to the hospital/dental school. I dropped Susan off at the main hospital building where she met with some of the nurses. Ryan and I went on to the dental school, where we taught a group of pediatric dentists from around the Kathmandu valley how to perform rotary endodontic procedures and obturate using bioceramic materials. Ryan did the serious teaching while I was mostly a "supervisor."

Afterwards, we all went to the canteen for lunch. I saw the canteen preparing these zucchinis for tomorrow's meals.

Susan joined Ryan and me and we returned to the DLR in the early/mid-afternoon. Along with Prem (the DLR managing partner) and his wife, we had a beer  (or 2 or 3) on the DLR balcony.

And then it was time for Ryan and Ross to leave.

The van was loaded with Ryan, Ross, Susan, and Prem, his wife, and his and adult daughter, Julia -- along with a van driver. After a stop at the temple in Bhaktapur, they went on to the Thamel District of Kathmandu. They all had dinner at the Fire and Ice Pizza restaurant where Dash, Nisha, Leslie and I ate at a month ago. Then Ryan, Ross & Susan were dropped off at the Marriott Courtyard hotel and Prem and his family family returned to Dhulikhel.

Tomorrow, Ryan, Ross and Susan are taking a helicopter flight to the Mt. Everest base camp followed by a tour of the Kathmandu Unesco Heritage sites on Wednesday. Susan will return to Dhulikhel late Wednesday, and Ryan and Ross fly on to Delhi India on Thursday morning.

Reading between the lines, you have ascertained that I did not accompany that group on this outing. Instead, I elected to remain in Dhulikhel. I could have checked out of the DLR for Monday and Tuesday nights, but I was too lazy to schlep my luggage back and forth. Also, I really like the breakfasts at the DLR, the showers are generally hot, and the bed is comfortable.
