Weds: A sad farewell to Dr. Leslie

It was Leslie's last day in Nepal. She had an evening flight home to the USA. I am convinced that she thoroughly enjoyed her time here.

We started the day invited to a special breakfast hosted by Dr Ram. The meal was to celebrate Leslie's visit. This meal was held poolside at the DLR. The view was spectacular, and so was the food, the company and conversations. Drs Smriti and Kafle were also in attendance.

The food included a bamboo-shoot soup, a buckwheat pancake, fried eggs, fruit and coffee.

Leslie gave Dr. Ram a gift of candies from Bozeman, Montana, USA.

Later at the school, a special and very moving ceremony was held acknowledging Leslie's contributions over the past week.

There was a vocal performance and presentation of this drawing by the artist.

Later, Leslie exchanged special gifts with Aagya and Kamana and we had more cake!

The we walked to the cash canteen for a last lunch/tea.
We saw these calves grazing along the way. Cows are sacred here, and they seem to roam freely.

Travis was already at the canteen, so he joined this selfie.

Anil and Manisha ate this meal, while Leslie and I drank tea. Leslie ate a few bites of the paneer.

Then Dr. Kafle picked up Leslie and took her to the KTM airport for her flight home.

I returned to the school and sat in on Travis' afternoon presentation.

I made plans for dinner with Travis at the Tik Tok. First I dropped off my laundry at the cleaners and bought a few groceries at the store. On the way there I saw this woman working on the terraced land.

We had a fine meal: veg momos, chicken cream soup, mustang alu (potato) and tandoori chicken.

I saw some sunsets from a few different viewpoints tonight. I could not decide which was the most spectacular --so here they are:
