Wednesday - It was Anil's Birthday!

I met Manisha and Anil for breakfast at the cash canteen this morning. It was Anil's birthday. We had these tortilla-like breakfast foods. The outer layer is like a flour tortilla. It is rolled out and then wok-fried, where it balloons op huge. Then they flatten it and roll it up with the inner layer, which is like a very thin corn tortilla -- except slightly softer and made from lentils.

Back at the department, Siras was busy grading papers with a red pen.

The students and staff brought Anil 2 cakes! He brought them KitKat chocolates.

I left after 2PM to get packed for 4 nights in Kathmandu. I saw these students playing volleyball near the helipad.

Dr. Kafle picked me up at 3PM and we travelled to the Kumari Inn guesthouse in Kathmandu. It seems like forever since I was last here. It has been almost 1 month. The new paved road up the hill to the Inn is the nicest street I have seen in all of Nepal!

The Park View Horizon towers remain under reconstruction from the earthquake, and the Kumari Inn is adding a new upper floor. You can see the moon in this photo too.

I walked down the hill and tried a new place for dinner: EG Burger House. It was actually pretty good. I had fried chicken and french fries. They were all sprinkled with masala spice, but the big breast piece was really good. The  fries were not great and the "lollipop chicken was greasy and mostly chicken skin (so I only had a few nibbles. The Pepsi was delicious.

Maybe next time I'll try a corn dog?
I will not try the "Butt Keema Noodles!"

I caught the last bit of sunset as I returned to the Inn.

Then I did some work from my desk on my MacBook, facing East.

My Montana colleague, Dr. Leslie Hayes arrives here tomorrow morning for a two-week visit to Nepal. She is somewhere in-flight right now.
