Monday: The second day of a Nepali work-week

After the nice breakfast buffet at the DLR, Dash and I introduced Leslie to Dr. Ram, the hospital founder and CEO. She attended the morning hospital management meeting and Dr. Ram tasked her with assisting the redesign of the earthquake-damaged front portico of the dental school building. While she was at that meeting, I was giving a lecture on Regenerative Endodontics to a mix of faculty, Interns, residents and students.

Afterwards, we all went to the cash canteen for tea. I saw these beautiful onions and prepared momo spices.

I thought this tree looked cool.

We had lunch at the regular canteen. This pic shows the dal bhat. I had a few bites of veg fried rice. It was too spicy. Leslie has embraced the spices here.

Because the front portico of the school is under demolition, they have created an alternate pathway into the school through the CONS/ENDO department, but they made this really steep ramp. Nothing is ADA accessible here.

I consulted with Anil on this MTA apical plug case.

On our after-school walk to the DLR, I saw this box of ducklings and these two women hauling aggregate to a cement mixer.

Dr. Ram's brother owns the DLR and his niece is the general manager. When Leslie and I were on our way to the DLR restaurant for dinner, we ran into Dr. Ram. In our conversation, I asked him what he would recommend for dinner. In no time, he had his driver summon the chef and then he instructed him on what to prepare for our meal. When Dr. Ram talks, people listen. We had rum punch drinks (not fruity -- more like tea and honey with rum); chicken momos in soup (also called liquid momos or soup momos -- these may be the best momos I have enjoyed in Nepal); saffron rice with butter chicken in masala sauce; and cocoanut ice cream with brownie bites for dessert (small brownie piece --not very sweet). It was a fantastic dinner.
