Tuesday at Chitwan National Park -- we saw amazing wildlife!

Chitwan is the oldest National Park in Nepal (Google it). Our Resort is in a prime location looking across the river at the park. I got up early expecting to see wildlife watering at the river, but it was so foggy that I couldn't see anything from my balcony. We met for breakfast in the hotels restaurant and soon the girls were telling of elephants by the river, so we headed to the riverside.

The girls enjoyed elephant rides and later got an "Elephant Shower!"

Across the river we saw what we think were water buffalo.

We walked upriver a ways. Along the way we saw many pairs of Siberian Ducks. Like migratory waterfowl in the US, Asia has similar flight paths.

I saw these women doing their laundry in the river.

The dugout canoe boats are for hire. The girls & Dr. Kafle took a ride across the river and then back.

Walking further upriver, we saw 3 huge crocodiles. Here are two of them.

The we left the river and entered the tourist-centric town. These are some street views.

We stopped a a shop and bought some lunch treats.

I saw that tobacco products are mandated to have disgusting warnings -- and yet smoking is very common here.

We caught a horse cart back to our resort.

And then back at the resort we saw a rhino cross the river. He seemed pretty tame since many people were close to him.

I watched another great sunset.

We walked to a nearby outdoor restaurant where we had a dinner of grilled chicken and potatoes (and beer). It reminded me of campouts in the US.

We are leaving early tomorrow morning to return to the Kathmandu valley.
