Sunday: A CE presentation for DCI

I had the delicious breakfast buffet at the Galle Face hotel.

Today was the annual CE presentation for the graduates of the DCI dental assisting program. All graduates from all classes over the past 10 years are invited to attend. Of the 106 graduates, maybe 60 or 70 attended. I never heard the final count. I did chat with one young woman who took a series of 4 buses over more than 8 hours to get here today -- with her young child in tow! And afterwards, she had the same trip in reverse. That shows me just how grateful these women are for the education they received from DCI and how supportive they are of the program.
I was the 3rd of 6 speakers today. I gave a 45 minute presentation on Dental Assisting for Endodontics. To wake up the audience, before I started we did a few minutes of stretching.

Afterwards, many attendees wanted photos with me. I always take that as a good sign that they appreciated my presentation. There was a "tea break" immediately following my presentation. The snacks included these "carrot finger sandwiches" and "English fruit cake."

We had a buffet lunch on the hotel's veranda. The view is so fantastic.

After the CE program and lunch, we had a brief shopping excursion. I bought new Birkenstocks. I needed a better pair of sandals for this hot weather.

Then we went to the DCI facility (residential dental assisting program). The purpose of this visit was to memorialize and dedicate a plaque in the dental simulation training area to Dr Rajeh, who funded the the renovation of this space (before he died). I didn't know him, but I have learned that he was a great benefactor and supporter of DCI.

Tomorrow morning we will be up early to travel to SW India. I'll be on a houseboat there for a few days without wifi access, so the blog updates may get delayed.

I received this advertisement for a CE course in Nepal on February 4th. I suppose I had better get prepared for this!
