Happy Friday AGAIN! - These weeks are flying by.

As of last night I have now been in Nepal 5 weeks. That means that I am already 1/4 of the way through my 5 month Fulbright term here. The time is rapidly flying by. Friday evenings seem to be the moment in each week when I reflect on everything that I am experiencing -- and today is a great example of that.

Today I received an e-mail with Christmas wishes from Dr. Ram, the Founder and CEO of Dhulikhel hospital.  It included this short video presentation that I encourage you to view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFcTwECMuI8&authuser=0

My home in Dallas is experiencing unusually cold weather. I have been watching the temperature and it has dropped to as low as 11 degrees F. That is relatively warm compared to the -25 temperatures that my brother is experiencing in Montana, but my Dallas house wasn't built for such low temperatures. I have remotely turned my thermostats up high and my neighbors have made my water faucets drip to hopefully prevent my pipes from freezing.

In my absence, my neighbors, Mark & Beth, are feeding my 10+ year-old semi-feral backyard cat, Scout. They have thoughtfully placed an electrically warmed cat house on my patio for Scout. Via my pet-camera, I could see Scout poke her head inside the cat house, but she didn't go inside. With her warm fur coat and her generous feedings, I trust that she will be sufficiently warm on this cold night. I really have no idea where she goes each night. FYI, the time stamp on this photo is Nepal time.

At school this morning, we attended in a peer-teaching lecture on endodontic diagnosis given by two final-year students.

At lunch today we went to Banepa, a small town just West of Dhulikhel (towards Kathmandu). We needed to get attendance certificates color-printed for the 100 attendees at tomorrow's CE event in Kathmandu. While we were awaiting the printing, we had lunch at the renowned Newa Kitchen restaurant. I enjoyed great chicken and veg momos. As usual, my colleagues desired spicier and more adventurous foods.

In the late afternoon, Dr. Kafle drove me to Kathmandu. He took me to the part-time office he shares with his wife, Nisha. I found the office to be unmistakable from my colleagues office's in the US. Can you see the DENTAL sign atop their building? I watched Nisha do root-end resection surgery with MTA retrofillings on teeth 9&10, along with a GI perforation repair. She is an excellent endodontic surgeon. The office staff are efficient and well-trained.

I am now back at the Kumari Inn and I am ready for bed.
Happy Friday!
