My Thanksgiving Day in Nepal
I took this sunrise photo Thursday morning as I walked across the hospital campus in Dhulikhel. I was walking across the campus to get to the edge of campus where there is an equivalent of a Nepali 7-Eleven. There I was able to purchase some needed bottled drinking water.
I was invited to be the honored lunch guest of Dr. Ram. He is the founder of the Dhulikhel Hospital and remains as its leader. He’s the silver haired man in this photo. I can’t tell you what exquisite leadership traits he exemplifies. He has an incredible vision for this hospital. He was extremely gracious towards me. The lunch was fantastic, with multiple delicious courses of food. Also in the photo is Dr. Kafle and the woman is Dr. Abha. She is an OB/GYN physician who also serves as the newly appointed head of the Hospital's Quality Assurance Program. After lunch, she and I had a meeting to discuss the development and realization of this Quality Assurance Program. I have developed expertise in this area and will be working with her over the coming months to help improve their hospital's program.
This was the spectacular Thanksgiving sunset observed from the balcony of my Dhulikhel accommodations. After the sunsets, it's amazing how quickly the temperature drops.
That evening, I rode to Kathmandu with Dr. Kafle. We met his wife Dr Nisha, an endodontist at Tribhuvan University, for a light supper. Afterwards, they deposit it to me at a guest house, where I will be staying until Sunday.
