Happy Thanksgiving from Nepal!

Wednesday I relocated from the Dhulikhel Lodge to a guest room on the hospital grounds. It's not as fancy, and meals are not provided but I have a little kitchenette and a bathroom. I have a balcony and I can see the dental school from my balcony. It's such a close walk that will be very convenient. Although the widow does not face north towards the Himalayas, it faces south so it will receive winter sun.

After work, Dr. Kafle drove me and 3 young general dentists to the Napali equivalent of an American super Walmart or a super Target. He dropped us off there and then he continued on to his home in Kathmandu. This was a large department store on multiple levels. These three dentists, Drs. Luna, Roshini & Suruchi,  who accompanied me were great helpers in quickly filling out my list of needed items. I needed things like a water cooker, a cook pot, some kitchen towels, bed linens, and most of all an electric heater for my room.

After our shopping, I saw that there was a KFC at this place! Hilarious! It's the first American food I've seen here. So I took these women to dinner. I'm not sure they appreciated the irony of me eating KFC in Nepal. I will think of this is my Thanksgiving dinner. I am thankful for so much. Everyone here is so friendly. The fact that these women took their evening to go shopping with me it was so fantastic. Then they were able to get us a taxi to return it to Dhulikhel.
